Compulsory Purchase
Many groups such as Government Departments and Local Authorities have statutory powers to purchase land without the owners consent. Such land purchases are often required for road widening schemes or a wide variety of other uses.
Often the acquiring authority will seek to achieve an amicable agreement with the land owner rather than proceed to a Compulsory Purchase Order. What ever the chosen route, we are able to advise on all issues relevant for the landowners and occupiers losses.
In such circumstances there are several Heads of Claim and we would strongly advise that a Chartered Surveyor should be instructed to act on the landowner's / occupiers behalf at the earliest stage of proceedings.
Our professional fees are usually paid by the acquiring authority, so the landowner normally does not have to pay for receiving professional advice.
